The pickups are standard size/mount though so a substitute should be easy. Since the body is routed for buckers, you would have to use Pure 90's or something else with a bucker sized case. I read one review where a guy was complaining about neck dive, so if that's a concern. The strap button for the neck end is on the back of the body like an SG. The ody is shaped and sized like the 335 except thinner. But I think the Hofner was put together better and is $200 cheaper.ġ 1/4". The Casino is a favorite of mine too, though. I've got some hard thinking to do, but I think I'm gonna go with the Hofner. They had a natural maple finish one and one in red. The neck is wider at the nut than the Epi or the Gretsch at 1 3/4" so there is room to move around. It's a 25.5" scale and with the maple construction, its quite snappy. The bridge was very clean with a lot of highs and a nice bite. The buckers were both voiced differently. Nice low action (not crazy low) but no buzz anywhere. Nice tulip head tuners, real screws on the polepieces, nice tight pots, etc.įazio's (the dealer) sets guitars up before they put them out and this one was a dream. The hardware was all nickel plated and a cut above what I've seen on the other Chinese stuff. Sunburst even on the back, the back of the neck and back of the headstock. The body is thin and has a spruce center block so its light and doesn't feed back much. I was down to choosing betwen oe of the Epis or the Gretsch but this thing changed my mind. I've been shopping hard for an archtop lately.
